The QA Manager will utilize his/her knowledge of quality engineering techniques, blueprint analysis expertise, and extensive understanding of GD&T to prepare a quality plan that will meet Billet’s Quality needs.
The individual must be familiar with AS9100D & ISO 9001, in order to maintain compliance and help to provide continual improvement to the Quality Management System.
As a key member of the Billet Management Team, this individual will interact with external customers, internal departments, and strategic vendors; with a focus on business development, quality system enhancement, and continuous improvement.
They develop and implement strategic initiatives, including leading AS9100 implementation, to advance Billet Industries business goals.
While managing Quality Assurance Department employees with a team-based approach.
*Essential Job Functions:* *Quality Planning: *Apply knowledge of company operations and contractual obligations to develop and implement an effective quality plan that will meet both internal ISO System and Customer based quality requirements.
Successfully interact with customers throughout the process, in order to clarify internal and external engineering needs in a value-add format.
Work with Purchasing and/or interact directly with vendors to ensure Billet’s contractual obligations are met.
*Routing Process Development*: Review and interpret customers quality requirements and establish standards that can be accurately detailed in Billet Production Routings.
Develop and maintain improvements to the ERP system (Epicor) that will efficiently and accurately translate customer requirements during the development of the Production Routings.
Assist in daily Production Planning Meetings ensuring quality plans are accurate and customer requirements are successfully met.
*Analyze Current Quality Processes: *Utilize solid background in quality engineering to review current quality practices and review non-conforming product matrix to recommend areas for continual improvement.
*Customer Support: *Work closely with customers to understand their product/part specifications and respond to customer questions and inquiries regarding our quality system capabilities, using excellent oral and written communication skills.
*Employee Management: *Provide oversight and direction to the employees in Billet’s Quality Department through leadership that adheres to company’s vision which emphasizes employee development, performance feedback, and goal accomplishment.
*Key Accountabilities * * Interface with customers, suppliers, and coworkers in an effective manner.
(courteous, positive, supportive) * Assure quality requirement standards are developed and documented within the ERP system that allow Estimating/Order Entry to provide an accurate foundation for manufacturing and quality to meet customer requirements.
(Quality Planning / Contract Review) * Track, analyze, & report important quality KPI’s (key performance indicators) such as: Non-Conformance Occurrences, Cost of Non-Conformances, Non-Conformance Causes, Customer Complaints, etc.
to management & other departments.
Assist with development of improvement plans.
* Maintain Current ISO 9001 Quality System to ensure compliance with both ISO and Customer quality requirements.
(Calibration System, Non-Conformance Log, Customer Complaint Log, etc.
) Inform management of changes to ISO standard which will affect Billet’s QMS.
* Implement (develop and see thru certification) AS9100 Certification as attribute to Billet’s current QMS.
* Utilize a “can do” approach in all interactions with both internal & external customers to enable Billet to achieve growth & profitability goals.
* Bring new ideas and positive support to current processes & new initiatives.
*Desired skills & experience:* · Minimum (5) years’ experience in quality management within an AS9100 contract manufacturing environment.
· Demonstrated ability to manage people, to work directly with customers and vendors, to establish and manage departmental budgets.
· Mastery of the full scope of ISO9001 and AS9100, and demonstrated ability to manage the interface with a certifying body.
· Demonstrated ability to analyze blueprints and GD&T to provide an adequate quality plan that will conform to contractual obligations.
· Familiarity with both a standard Bridge CMM and a Portable Inspection Arm (Romer Arm) utilizing PC-DMIS or similar software.
· Familiarity with many forms of Hand-tool Measuring Gauges (Inside & Outside Micrometers, Dial and Vernier Calipers, Indicators, Thread & Pin Gauges, Optical Comparator, Surface Finishes, etc.
) · Understanding of weld inspections and welder qualifications.
· Knowledge of ASME/ASTM material standards and material certification requirements.
· Application engineering and/or machining background is a plus.
· Familiarity with ERP System databases (Epicor, or similar) along with proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
· Must be: well organized, pro-active, self-starter who possesses exceptional problem solving and analytical skills, with strong attention to detail.
· BS, Technical Degree, or Journeyman is a plus.
· Familiarity with Solidworks and/or Mastercam is a plus, but not required.
· This position may be required to follow other job-related instructions and to perform other job related tasks as required, subject to state and applicable law.
Job Type: Full-time Pay: $90,000.
00 - $110,000.
