Job Description
Under the general supervision of the Clinical Supervisor, Provider, and/or direct supervisor, performs a variety of clerical, clinical and administrative duties.
Duties may include quality monitoring, patient assessments, direct patient care, and patient/caregiver/staff education.
May be responsible for oversight of more than one practice.
Must have the ability to cover other occupational health clinics as well as onsite needs.
May be required to accept on-call responsibilities.
Duties and Responsibilities Supervises clinical staff by training, allocating and monitoring work.
Prepares work schedules of clinical staff; manages timecards and approves/disapproves requested time off.
Assists Manager and Clinical Operations Coordinator with interviewing, hiring, orienting, training and retention of clinical staff.
Evaluates performance of designated clinical staff.
Coordinates continuing education of clinical staff and assures clinical competencies are met, documented, and maintained.
Trains, mentors, and coordinates preceptorship of new clerical/clinical staff.
Strives for a high level of employee satisfaction and engagement; and, is seen as a positive role model for all staff.
Proficient in utilization of Occupational Health specific electronic health record platform to include but not limited to referencing employer requirements, scheduling, treatment, referrals, discharge, and transmission of post-visit test results.
Enter patient information into and/or retrieve information from all relevant electronic health record systems.
Acquires and maintains certification as a DOT urine drug screen and breath alcohol trainer.
Ensures all staff achieve and maintain current DOT certification and facilitates follow-up training for fatal flaws within the required time frame.
Acquires and maintains venipuncture certification in accordance with the WellSpan phlebotomy training course.
Attends meetings and clinical competency training sessions as needed.
Maintains a safe environment for both patients and employees by managing internal office functions related to clinical care and quality monitoring.
This may include ensuring that medical equipment and supplies are readily available and are monitored for safety and quality control.
Ensures the required documentation of quality control inspections are completed, which may include documentation of temperature readings, expiration date assessment, and the maintenance of emergency supplies and equipment.
Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies including OSHA, CLIA, Department of Health, Department of Transportation, etc.
Ensures environmentally safe practices are in place, including completion of Environment of Care (EOC) Checklist and maintenance of the electronic Safety Data Sheet database.
Ensures compliance with applicable policies, procedures, and initiatives.
Ensures an efficient day-to-day clerical/clinical workflow within the practice.
Monitors workflow and adjusts as needed to improve efficiency and throughput.
Performs all responsibilities of the Medical Assistant/Physician Office Nurse and Physician Office Assistant.
Coordinates the clinical training and orientation of new/float staff.
Ensures competency signoff in 90 days.
Assigns preceptor, when applicable.
Mentors clinical staff and assists in clinical advancement.
Communicates regularly with staff to ensure pertinent and timely exchange of information.
Ensures appropriate training of staff on new equipment, procedures, and best practices.
Ensures a high level of clerical/clinical excellence is maintained.
Assists team to identify opportunities for improvement related to the patient experience metrics.
Coaches staff on measures to use to provide an excellent patient experience, for every patient, on every visit, every day.
Assists to develop clinical policies and procedures.
Assists in monitoring and evaluation of quality assessment activities, including chart audits to monitor documentation compliance.
Assists and educates clinical staff on when and how to enter Safety Reporting System (SRS) events, and Customer Reporting System (CRS) complaints and compliments.
Investigates and closes reported events.
Prepares agendas and holds regular clinical education sessions.
Manages a variety of onsite service delivery opportunities within the region including support and collaboration on the annual onsite Flu Vaccine program.
Follows recommended processes to appropriately manage and document patient concerns and quality of care issues including application of Just Culture principles.
Collaborates with the leadership on areas of need in the department (e.
g.
, problematic flow issues, equipment and supplies issues, documentation issues, patient satisfaction issues and performance issues).
Participates in case management meetings and provides follow-up on outstanding cases.
Applies Lean principles and identifies opportunities for Process Improvement.
Provides leadership in striving to achieve excellence in clinical practice.
Monitors the system’s recall notification alerts and completes necessary follow-up.
Maintains strict confidentiality of patient’s health information.
Completes annual WSH Corporate Compliance, and other mandatory education.
Considers the perspectives and needs of both the employer and the patient when delivering care and incorporates both in the overall experience delivery.
Anticipates and resolves patient concerns in a timely manner.
Keeps clients informed, when necessary.
Qualifications Minimum Experience: 3-5 years of Medical Practice experience Minimum Education: Certificate of completion (degree or diploma) from an accredited LPN or RN program Required Certification: Registration and current LPN or RN license in PA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Location: WellSpan Health · WS Occupational Health-York Schedule: Full Time, Day, Monday - Friday
