Position Summary
This position is a part-time/seasonal position.
Position is responsible for conducting the overall
daily activities of the Township summer park program.
Primary responsibility will involve
activities for the children and the safeguard of the children and parks.
Position of Summer
Program Leader is responsible for the daily coordination, of a specific program in addition to the
overall activities of the Township summer park program.
Work is performed independently;
however, direction is received from the Summer Program Supervisors and/or Director of Parks
and Recreation.
Duties
Implement safe, age appropriate, fun activities provided by the Summer Program
Supervisors.
Instruct and participate with the children in the daily activities.
Responsible for safeguarding all park equipment and supplies.
Responsible for complete oversight of the assigned park and the participating
children.
Effectively promote and communicate program activities with children and parents.
Conduct daily on-site inspection of assigned park and its equipment.
Notify Summer
Program Supervisors immediately of any unsafe conditions found during inspection.
Model appropriate behavior.
Communicate disciplinary action with children and their parents.
Maintain a weekly bulletin board and parks schedule at their park site.
Communicate with the Summer Program Supervisors and/or Director of Parks and
Recreation; i.
e.
safety concerns, disciplinary matters, staffing concerns, etc.
Provide assistance with the Township summer concert events.
Performs other assignments as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to organize and direct the summer park program.
Ability to recognize unsafe conditions or situations and immediately report it.
Ability to communicate with associates, children and parents in a professional
manner.
Knowledge of the Township's recreation policies and procedures.
Ability to understand, communicate and carry out written and verbal instructions
effectively in English.
Ability to regularly report to the job at assigned times and perform assigned duties.
Minimum Acceptable Education and Experience
High school degree or equivalent (minimum 18 years of age).
Certificates and Licenses Required
Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.
CPR and First Aid certificates (must be certified prior to the start of the park
program).
Work Authorization/Security Clearance
Must be authorized to work in the United States.
Ability to pass physical/medical/drug screening tests.
Ability to pass background check
Ability to pass a Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Certification
Travel
Travel is primarily local, although some out of the area travel for field trips may
happen.
Physical Demands and work Environment
The work is generally performed outdoors at Township park facilities.
The work requires mobility involving walking, close/distance and peripheral vision,
depth perception, bending, climbing and lifting items up to 50lbs.
