This collectible antique porcelain decorative bowl was made by Ridgways of England.
It is 8-3/4" across and 2" deep on the inside; the coloring is mostly in shades of brown and gold.
The rim has a faded silvery-colored edge all around.
The age of the bowl is unknown: It was acquired in 1974, and was supposed to be an antique then.
It could be priced much higher in an antique store or an auction of fine-arts English tableware.
-- NOTE: This bowl is an ANTIQUE collectible, offered for DECORATIVE use only, not for cooking, serving or eating food.
--
It is one of a series depicting scenes from a book, "Coaching Days and Coaching Ways," published in 1888 by William O.
Tristram.
Information on the book, and its text, are available on the Internet.
The scene pictured inside the center of the bowl is entitled "Henry the Eighth and the Abbot of Redding.
" It depicts two men and a server at a dining table with the caption, "I would give 100 pounds could I feed so lustily on beef as you do.
"
The maker's legend on the back of the bowl reads:

-- Important NOTES:
(1) The flexible metal display stand shown in the photo is included with the sale.
(2) The seller does NOT know if the rim is coated in actual silver.
To clean the bowl, use gentle hand-wash only.
(3) Again, this bowl is an ANTIQUE, offered for decorative DISPLAY ONLY, not for heating or serving food! Such use might damage the bowl or its graphics.
It is probably NOT safe in a microwave or an automatic dishwasher.
The seller will NOT -- repeat, NOT -- be responsible for damage due to any other use by the buyer.
